Paypal Merchant Credit Card Accounts
|
 |
So you want an E-commerce site...
So first things first, you will need a credit card merchant account. The good
news is, unlike in the old days, when you had to sign a multi-year contract
with a bank or credit card service company, you can now quickly and easily establish
an account with Paypal to handle
all of your web transactions. No contract, no minimum monthly fees, and a bevy
of web tools to assist you with getting your products up and linked for fast
secure payment from the web via a credit card.
How does it work?
There are three steps...
- Create your account... got to paypal and sign up for your
business
or personal
account. You will need your personal or business information, as well as your
bank account information. After you have submitted your information, paypal
will make 2 deposits in your bank account. After 3-5 business days, you will
have to call your bank and get the exact amounts of these 2 deposits.
- Verify your bank information...after you have obtained
the exact amounts of the 2 deposits, you will need to go to paypal and login
to your account with your email address and password. Go to your account page,
and click the item in the left bar that says 'get verified'. In the form provided,
enter the two deposit amounts. You should receive an email confirmation of
your acout being verified.
- Create your payment Links...Paypal provides a developer
center where you can use their tools to create payment links for each
item in your store. The how-to
articles are extremely helpful. In addition, you can download PayPal wizards
for Macromedia
Dreamweaver MX, Microsoft
FrontPage, Microsoft
Visual Studio.NET, NetObjects
Fusion, and Macromedia
Flash MX! THese will get you going in minutes in your preferred developing
software. Options are available for one time payments, subscriptions and creation
of email payment links to suit every need.
We have used Paypal for over one year ourselves and been extremely impressed
with the versatility, value, and user friendliness of this service. We strongly
recommend Paypal for anyone who is creating a web based store, wishes to accept
credit cards, and does not currently have a bank merchant account or credit
card acceptance account with a credit card merchant service.
